Frequently asked questions about choosing a machine

Which machine size for a double duvet?

A double duvet (240×220 cm, synthetic or down) weighs 4 to 5 kg dry but takes up a lot of volume. You need a 14 kg machine minimum so the fill can tumble freely; our laundromats offer 18 kg machines, ideal for king-size duvets or two duvets at once.

9 kg or 11 kg machine for a family of four?

For 4 people, an 11 kg machine handles a week of laundry in one cycle: jeans, t-shirts, underwear, pyjamas and towels. The 9 kg covers daily loads but forces 2 cycles on heavy weeks. The 18 kg is oversized except for occasional sheets and duvets.

How long does a Speed Queen cycle take?

A standard Speed Queen cycle runs 30 to 35 minutes (wash + 1200 rpm spin). A full dry in the 18 kg dryer adds 25 to 35 minutes. Wash + dry total: 1h to 1h10, significantly faster than a home machine (2h30 to 3h).
